The Canvas Building at Moss Lane East in Manchester has been designed by architects Carson Sall, and includes a newbuild 9-storey block alongside the refurbishment of a listed building overlooking Whitworth Park. The site lies along a route running north-south populated extensively with university facilities and associated student accommodation.

Consisting of a mix of both cluster en-suite rooms and self-sufficient studios, the property will provide 261 rooms for students attending nearby universities.

The development will provide a hub for student amenities, including private study booths, collaboration space, residents lounges, cinema space, gym, karaoke space and a well-being room.

Planning permission was granted for the scheme in August 2023 and GMI are currently on site having reached the Topping Out stage in June 2026. The building will be ready to welcome students for the Autumn term in 2027.
