Setting a new benchmark

Boasting the largest university population of any city in Europe, students are key part of the fabric of Manchester, helping to make it such a vibrant, cultural urban hub, while contributing significantly to the local economy.

Over 100,000 descend on the North West city every year across a range of institutions, including Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Salford, UMIST and the University of Manchester, which is home to the UK’s largest number of students.

Despite the economic benefits and the boost to Manchester’s skills base that students bring, they also put major pressure on housing in the city.
