Monthly Review: March

Welcome back to our monthly review. Even with these uncertain times, we will still be bringing you monthly updates from the Alumno team. We will also be posting regularly on our social platforms with new content and updates through these difficult times.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival will be back in 2021

The Norfolk and Norwich festival announced their full 2020 programme at the beginning of March, unfortunately the festival has now been cancelled till 2021. But we do look forward to working with them in the future. To keep up to date, follow them on twitter and Instagram @NNFest

Free Photography Competition extended to May 1st

In Sheffield, our photography competition in partnership with Homes for Students and organised by Photo North Festival will eventually have the winners of our photography competition displayed at the Moor Market in the centre of Sheffield. Our competition has been extended to May 1st. The brief of ‘Community’ will remain the same, however during this uncertain time, we don’t encourage anyone to put themselves in an unsafe environment – the sentiment can be used to display how communities adapting in these unprecedented times.

March also saw two of our student schemes be ranked number one for accommodation on Student Crowd. Hyndland House in Glasgow was completed in 2014, designed by Carson & Partners, Hyndland House offers 174 rooms and is located right in the heart of Glasgow’s vibrant West End. Pablo Fanque House in Norwich was completed in 2018 and also designed by Carson and Partners and offers 234 rooms and is located right in the heart of Norwich.

Aspire Point, Stratford

Along with MJP Architects we were thrilled to have our Stratford Scheme, Aspire Point win a National Civic Trust Award. From 250 entries and a rigorous multi-stage assessment process, 58 projects were chosen. We were very excited that Aspire Point had been recognised and won an award.

CGI of Bermondsey Scheme

We end March with good news from Bermondsey, London. The Alumno scheme on Alscot Road has been granted planning permission. This will be our fourth development in Southwark which will provide student accommodation for 143 people with facilities including a basement cinema lounge, study room and community area. The design of the scheme was developed with Greenaway Architecture. We look forward to bringing this scheme to life.
