Student digs planned for town hall

Alumno Developments has proposed new theatre and a 149-bed student housing block for the former Southwark council town hall in Peckham, EC5.
Alumno has lodged proposals for a 149-bed student accommodation scheme and a 14,000 sq ft, 200-seat theatre.
The £20m Jestico + Whiles-designed plans for 31 Peckham Road also include a 1,000 sq ft gallery and café and 12 artists’ studios.
The council vacated the block in 2010 after deciding it was no longer fit for purpose.
Subject to consent from Southwark council, construction would complete in late 2015.
