Alumno have an outstanding track record for commissioning artists and poets in their new buildings. Working with Arts Curator Matthew Jarratt, Alumno researched the history of contemporary sculpture and architectural ceramics in Leeds and this informed the brief for Leeds based artist Amelia Woods to create her first permanent commissions of ceramic sculptures. So it was great to visit Amelia in her studio at Assembly House in Leeds to understand a bit more about the process of creating artworks for a site specific installation and how Amelia hopes her work will inspire the next generation of students living in the Terry Frost building in Leeds.
