The end of 2021 is fast approaching, and with December right around the corner we look back through autumn and the amazing progress our up and coming schemes have made, as well as the awards and nominations for past schemes.
August and September may have been quiet but we have sure been loud in October and November. Our amazing scheme in Park Hill, Sheffield has been featured in this year’s student pocket guide. Beton House offers 356 rooms, along with communal areas, study spaces, shared kitchens and much more.
Staying with Beton House, not only is the new Provisions shop open, where residents and students have access to a wide range of supplies, coffee and hot food. But Beton House also won ‘Best Refurbishment/Fit out of the year’ at this year’s Yorkshire Insider Property Awards. Working with Whittham Cox Architects, the scheme retained and celebrated much of the original Grade II listed structure whilst adding our own contemporary additions to give the building new life and personal identity. Well done to everyone who was nominated and won.
Benedict’s Gate joined Beton House with an award, winning the 2021 Design and Craftsmanship award. Alumno, Conisbee and Carson & Partners were there to accept the award. Well done everyone.
Ending October, we got a look at the amazing progress at our new sites in Manchester and Bermondsey. In Manchester the first floor slab is down with the frame work taking shape and we got a sneak peek at the amazing views from our new London scheme in Bermondsey, which will have 143 rooms for students.
Even when the weather got darker, November has been a bright and positive month with amazing drone photos of Church Inn, Manchester by GMI Construction, the final roof pour was done on the last level of our London Scheme in Bermondsey and rave reviews from students at Beton House. It’s also great to see the outdoor spaces coming into their own now that the grass is growing.
We also found out that Beton House had been nominated as a regional finalist for the 2022 Civic Trust awards under the AABC Conservation category. Alumno and Whittam Cox are thrilled by the new as the AABC Conservation Award celebrates projects that demonstrate the highest standards of historic building conservation.
We also had students move into our brand new accommodation in Brighton, Alumno Falmer. Alumno Falmer offers a choice of modern shared flats and spacious studios, study room, sun deck, cosy lounge area, cctv, with a fob system and contents insurance included, super fast wifi, and so much more. There is also an onsite maintenance team that will help with all your needs. Alumno Falmer is perfectly located for students at the University of Brighton‘s Falmer Campus. With Falmer train station literally on your doorstep, you’ll be just minutes away from the main campus, Brighton’s famous beaches, and the lively city centre. The University of Sussex is also just an 8-minute walk away.
Last but not least, we end the month with our Topping Out Ceremony at Alscot Road, Bermondsey which was attended by a range of stakeholders and the core design team. Alscot Road, Bermondsey is our fourth development in Southwark which will deliver fully integrated facilities for 143 students, including high-quality rooms with shared amenities, such as a basement cinema lounge, study room and community area. We cannot wait to show you the finished product.
