Alumno continue to support and collaborate with Photo North, inspiring and encouraging the next generation of photographers as well as showcasing more established industry names. This year Photo North are starting their roadshows, taking their expertise and enthusiasm directly into higher education institutions around the country. They kicked off in Chester on 10 December, further details can be found on their website but it is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

Another exciting development is the naming of Sofia Conti as the “one to watch”. Sofia was a runner up in the student competition. Her work focusses on exploring social inequalities within various communities including her own. We are thrilled she was able to take away so much from the competition. ”

“Photo North Festival for me has been fantastic. Entering last year I was a runner up in the student competition. This year I was a guest speaker and chosen to be the festivals’ ‘One To Watch’ with an invitation to exhibit my project ‘Return, O Backsliding Children’.

This event has enabled me to branch out further with networking opportunities and I even received a free portfolio review from Channel 4.
